Pendleton FFA member Emily Waggoner received the Robert R. Coker Scholarship valued at $2000. Emily, a former state FFA officer, is a sophomore at Clemson University majoring in Animal and Pre-Veterinary Science. The late Dr. Coker of Hartsville, SC, served as the first president of the SC Farm Bureau.

Josh Waters, a member of the Gilbert FFA Chapter and a senior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education, received a $1000 scholarship named in honor of Betty J. Dewitt of Darlington, SC, former chair of the SC Farm Bureau Women’s Committee and a former member of the American Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. Josh is a former state FFA officer and past president of the Clemson University FFA Organization.

“Agriculture desperately needs the type of high-caliber leadership these students have exhibited through their studies and other activities,” said David Winkles, President of the SC Farm Bureau Foundation. “It is our hope that these scholarships will encourage young people to develop the skills necessary to become part of the leadership structure in agriculture”, he added.
