AYNOR FFA TEAM TAKES TOP STATE HONORS

CLEMSON, SC…Aynor High School FFA team members Charlye Nobles, Daniel Rabon, Jimmi Lynn Jenerette and Alison Larrimore took first place honors in the SC FFA-sponsored Farm Business Management Competition held at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. Daniel Rabon was the high individual scorer and Alison Larrimore was the third high scorer in the overall state competition. Stacey Bazen, Agricultural Education Teacher at Aynor High School, is the team advisor.

The Aynor team and advisor were awarded expense paid trips to the National FFA Convention to be held later this year in Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete in the National Finals.

Ridge Spring-Monetta FFA members Emma Faulk, Caleb Miller, Quentin Evans and Josh Boatwright were named the State Runner-up Team in the competition. Josh Boatwright was the second high scorer in the state competition. Michael Crim, Agricultural Education Teacher at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, is the team advisor.

Components of the competition included: Net Worth Statement (calculating financial ratios, rate of return on assets and rate of return on equity); Cash Flow Budget Analysis; Enterprise Budget Analysis (calculate break-even price and break-even yield); Partial Budgeting; Marketing Hedge (calculating basis, effective price and actual price bases on the hedge); and a 50 question exam.

Jerry Pace of Britton’s Neck, a retired agricultural educator and well known expert on farm business management, conducted the state career development event for the SC FFA Association.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
