FARM-CITY SHOWCASE

LEXINGTON, SC…FFA chapters from the Lexington Technology Center, Pelion High School, Gilbert High School and Batesburg-Leesville High School joined in co-sponsoring the 12 th annual Lexington County Farm-City Showcase, Saturday, October 7 th, in the K-Mart parking area on Highway 1 and 378 in Lexington according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

The event, designed to emphasize the interdependence of people living on the farm and those living in the city, included displays of large agricultural and forestry equipment, agricultural education displays, samples of locally produced food, a petting zoo, a children’s casting contest, a children’s tractor pull, pony rides, free ice cream and peanuts.

The Showcase, attended by hundreds from Lexington County and surrounding areas, served to kick-off the observance of Farm-City Week held during the seven days leading up to Thanksgiving.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
