MCCANNON IN NATIONAL FFA PUBLIC SPEAKING FINALS

COLUMBIA, SC…Katie McCannon of Pendleton, vice president of the SC FFA Association and past president of the Pendleton FFA Chapter, will compete in the National FFA Public Speaking Finals at the National FFA Convention to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 25-28, 2006, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Organization.

Katie was named the state champion FFA public speaker during the SC FFA convention at Clemson University this summer. She was awarded an expense paid trip to the National FFA Convention by the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association who sponsors the prestigious FFA leadership competition.

The daughter of Steve and Nancy McCannon, Katie is a senior at Pendleton High School. Her FFA advisor is Josh Murdock, Agricultural Education Teacher at Pendleton.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
