STATE FFA OFFICERS ATTEND PEACH FESTIVAL

GILBERT, SC…State FFA President Amanda Hiott and State Secretary Ashton Berry attended the 48 th annual Lexington County Peach Festival in Gilbert on Tuesday, July 4, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the FFA organization. The State Officers were joined at the Dignitaries Luncheon by Gilbert FFA President Casey Attaway and Vice President Kristin Miller. They were recognized during the program by Al Harman, a former state FFA president from Gilbert.

US Senator Jim DeMint of Greenville was the keynote speaker for the event. Other governmental officials in attendance included Governor Mark Sanford, US Congressman Joe Wilson, State Treasurer and FFA Alumnus Grady Patterson, State Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers, State Senator Tommy Moore, State Senator and FFA Alumnus Ronnie Cromer, State Senator Jake Knotts, State Representative Nikki Haley, State Representative Mac Toole, State Representative Ted Pitts and other governmental and agricultural leaders.

The State FFA officers and the Gilbert FFA officers rode in the 125 unit Festival Parade earlier in the day which was attended by thousands from throughout the southeast.

“ South Carolina, one of the leading peach producing states in the nation, is second only to California followed by Georgia which ranks third,” Parris said.
