DUBOSE IS PRESIDENT-ELECT OF SC AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS

COLUMBIA, SC…Harry M. DuBose, a member of the faculty at Carolina Forest High School in Myrtle Beach, has been named president-elect of the South Carolina Agricultural Education Teachers Association, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education.

DuBose, a graduate of Clemson University with BS and MS degrees in Agricultural Education, has completed the course work for a PhD degree at North Carolina State University with specialization in agricultural education, horticulture and turf grass management.

Prior to becoming an Agricultural Education Teacher in Horry County fifteen years ago, Mr. DuBose taught Agricultural Education at Bell’s High School near Walterboro, SC, served as department chair and director of Continuing Education at Catawba Valley Community College in Hickory, NC, and taught at Horry-Georgetown Technical College.

DuBose, a former president of the SC FFA Association, serves as advisor to the Myrtle Beach FFA Chapter at Carolina Forest High School. Under his leadership, the enrollment in Agricultural Science classes has grown to 140 students who are members of the FFA and a 50 member Adult Agricultural Education organization. The FFA chapter was named recipient of the Governor’s Citation of Excellence for its many accomplishments earlier this year.

A retired Colonel with the Army Reserves and National Guard, Mr. DuBose has served in Germany, France, Italy, Russia and Ukraine. He serves on the advisory board of the Horry-Georgetown Technical College and the Horry County Agricultural Extension Service. He is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and has been active in the Campground Ministries for a number of years.

DuBose and his wife, Gayle, a first grade teacher at Carolina Forest Elementary School, have two children. Grant is Vice President for Operations with Carrell Homes in Myrtle Beach. Nichole is a Marketing Manager with Atlanta Bread Company.
