FFA MEMBERS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIPS BY SC FARM BUREAU
AT STATE FAIR

COLUMBIA, SC….FFA members Amy Williams of Oakway and Daniel Jarrard of Iva were awarded $2500 scholarships by the South Carolina Farm Bureau at the conclusion of the beefcattle show at the State Fair, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. The checks were presented by Eric Snyder, an official with the SC Farm Bureau organization.

Amy, a sophomore at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education, is a member of the West Oak High School FFA Chapter. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Williams of Oakway. Her FFA advisors are Stanley Gibson, Gwen McPhail and Krista Price, agricultural education teachers at West Oak High School.

Daniel, a sophomore at Crescent High School in Anderson County, is a member of the Crescent FFA Chapter. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Jarrard of Iva. His FFA advisors are Tim Keown and Roger Estridge, agricultural education teachers at the school.

“Selection of the scholarship is determined by a written test, showmanship skills and an interview with a beef cattle professional,” Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
