STEWART NAMED STATE FFA STAR FARMER

CLEMSON, SC….Nolan Stewart of Easley was named the State FFA Star Farmer by the SC FFA Association at its annual convention held on the Clemson University campus recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

A 2006 graduate of Easley High School and a member and former officer of the B.J. Skelton Career Center FFA Chapter, Nolan was recognized for his superb accomplishments in developing a top-quality beef cattle herd. He presently owns 95 head of beef cattle which he raises on 120 acres of pasture land leased from his father. He also produces hay from 300 acres on the family farm.

He was presented an engraved plaque and a check for $1200 by Miriam Pflug, director of marketing with AgSouth Farm Credit, on behalf of the SC Cooperative Council which sponsors the prestigious Agricultural Education award. The check is to be used to defray expenses for Nolan and one of his advisors to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana this fall.

The son of Ross and Norma Stewart, Nolan’s FFA advisors are Steve McCannon, Abbie Piotrowsky and David Jensen, Agricultural Education teachers at the B.J. Skelton Career Center.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
