COLUMBIA, SC….The South Carolina FFA Association has been awarded a $100,000 grant through the Competitive Grants Program of the SC State Budget and Control Board, according to Frank W. Rusco, executive director of the Board.
A grant proposal prepared and submitted on behalf of the SC FFA Association by John W. Parris was approved in November 2006. The grant will provide funds to assist with major repairs to existing facilities at the SC FFA Center in North Myrtle Beach.

Chairman Witherspoon presented the check on behalf of the State Budget and Control Board at a ceremony in the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Conference Room on December 18. SC FFA and Agricultural Education officials in attendance included Mr. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA; State FFA President Amanda Hiott of Williston; State FFA Vice President Katie McCannon, Pendleton; Steve McCannon, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SC FFA Association and Agricultural Education Instructor at B. J. Skelton Career Center, Easley; Fred Raines, Chairman of the SC FFA Center Development Committee and Agricultural Education Instructor at Abbeville High School, Abbeville; William E. Keels, State Director of Agricultural Education; H. Keith Cox, Associate State Director of Agricultural Education; and Zane Bryant, Resident Director of the Center.
“Replacement of the Dining Hall roof and major repairs to the Gymnasium are expected to be completed before summer sessions begin at the FFA Center,” Parris said.
