CLOVER FFA DAIRY FOODS TEAM HEADED TO NATIONAL FINALS

CLEMSON, SC…The Clover High School FFA Dairy Foods Team took top honors in the state competition held at Clemson University according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Team members Josh Long who was the second high individual scorer, Michael Hull, Katie Long and Kyle Hodges along with their coach Carrie C. Bolin, Agricultural Education Instructor, were awarded expense-paid trips to compete in the National Dairy Foods Finals at the National FFA Convention scheduled to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, in October.

Cheraw students Caroline Barfield, Nancy Crowley and Bridgette Marsh claimed the State Runner-up title. Bridgette Marsh was the high individual scorer in the competition. Their coach is Robert Bollier, Agricultural Education Instructor at Cheraw High School.

Abbeville team members Bryan Glace, Krystal Collins, Kristy Durham and Devan Herron placed third in the state finals. Bryan Glace was the third high scorer in the over-all event. Their coach is Fred Raines, Agricultural Education Instructor at Abbeville High School.

“The study of dairy foods is a major part of the food science curriculum offered by agricultural educators in secondary schools throughout the state,” Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
