LAMAR, SC… .Darlington County Young Farmer and Agribusiness members hosted their annual Political Forum at in Lamar High School on Monday, January 22, 2007, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education.
Featured speakers at the event included State Representative William D. Witherspoon of Conway, Chairman of the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee; State Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers; Jack Shuler, Executive Director of ArborOne-Land and Home, Florence; Phil Hicks, Southeast Marketing Manager, Rain and Hail, Raleigh, NC, and State FFA Secretary Ashton Berry of Saluda. Don Boice, an executive with ArborOne, presided at the forum.
In addition to record attendance of farmers and other agribusiness owners, FFA chapter officers from Lamar High School and Hartsville High School were in attendance.
Bert Beasley, Agricultural Science Education Teacher at Lamar High School; Al Gray, Agricultural Science Education Teacher at Hartsville High School; Al Jeffords, a retired Agricultural Educator from Lamar; and Don Boice serve as advisors to the Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapters in Darlington County.
The banquet was co-sponsored by ArborOne and the Rain and Hail Insurance Company.
