HOLBROOK ADDRESSES RENEWABLE ENERGY SYMPOSIUM

MYRTLE BEACH, SC…Flint Holbrook, a sophomore at Clover High School where he serves as vice president of the FFA chapter, addressed a symposium on The Future of Renewable Energy in South Carolina sponsored by the SC Soil and Water Conservation Society at Myrtle Beach recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Holbrook’s topic was entitled Integrating Biodiesel into South Carolina’s Agricultural Industry. He has successfully designed and constructed the necessary equipment for producing biodiesel as a part of his supervised agricultural experience program in the FFA.

A 2006 National Silver Placement winner in the Agricultural Mechanics-Energy Systems Proficiency Award category sponsored by the National FFA Organization, Holbrook was featured on the national RFD-TV Network’s FFA Today Show last year for his successful production of biodiesel.

An offensive tackle for the Clover High School football team, Holbrook is a member of the First Baptist Church of Clover. His future plans include attending Clemson University to prepare for a career in alternative fuels and engineering.

He is the son of Flint and Beverly Holbrook of Clover. His FFA advisor is Carrie C. Bolin, Agricultural Education Science Instructor at Clover High School.
