FFA MEMBERS HONORED BY FARM-CITY LEADERS

COLUMBIA, SC….FFA members from Batesburg-Leesville High School, Gilbert High School, Lexington Technology Center and Pelion High School were honored by the Lexington County Farm-City Committee at a Recognition Banquet on February 22, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. The program was held in conjunction with the observance of National FFA Week.

The keynote speaker was Katie M. Hulse, Director of Student Relations and Recruitment with the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences at Clemson University. Ms. Hulse was very complimentary of the agri-science and technology instructors in Lexington County for their leadership in preparing FFA members to be successful students at Clemson University.

Mrs. Frances Price of Gilbert, an official with the Farm-City Committee, praised the FFA members and advisors for their superb accomplishments in agricultural education and support of Farm-City programs in Lexington County.

FFA members were joined at the event by Lexington County Farm-City Committee members and sponsors, governmental leaders, school administrators, agriculturalists, and Lexington County Agri-Science and Technology Instructors Libby Hrlic, Derrick Cooper, Tommy Harmon and Frank R. Stover, Jr.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education, Parris said.
