TRAVELERS REST FFA LIVESTOCK TEAM HEADED TO NATIONAL FINALS
CLEMSON.SC…The Travelers Rest High School FFA Livestock Evaluation Team took top honors in the State Finals at the T. Ed Garrison Livestock Arena on the Clemson University campus recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team members Nathan Coggins, Michelle Mott, Roserin Kilpatrick, Brittany Atkinson and Audrey Jones along with team coach Jason Wigington, Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA advisor at Travelers Rest High School, were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete in the National Livestock Evaluation Finals in October. Nathan Coggins was the high individual scorer and Michelle Mott was the second high scorer in the state competition.

Team members are Kelly Howell, Guy Ramsey, Matthew Hill and Chad Whitesides. They were coached by Frank Sandifer, Agricultural Education teacher at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center in York. Guy Ramsey was the third high scorer in the state competition.
Clover FFA team members Leslie McGill, Lauren McGill, Brown Boyd and John Petty were named the third top team in the state competition. Carrie Bolin, Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA advisor at Clover High School, and Jesse Miskelly, a senior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education who is practicing teaching at Clover, assisted in coaching the team.
“Livestock Evaluation is among the most competitive of the many career development events sponsored by the SC FFA Association”, Mr. Parris said.
The awards were presented by State FFA Officers Amanda Hiott, Ashton Berry and Tyler Brown on behalf of the SC FFA Association.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
