NEWBERRY CAREER CENTER FFA CHAPTER PRESENTS AWARDS
The Newberry County Career Center FFA Chapter Awards and Recognition Banquet was held May 21. Don Lawrimore, Director of the Center, and Annette Davis, Education Coordinator with the Newberry Conservation District, were awarded the prestigious Honorary FFA Chapter Degree for their outstanding support during school year 2006-07.

John Worthington, Leona Parr and Rachel Scott were recognized as the Outstanding FFA members by Charlotte Jennings, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor. John Worthington was also named recipient of the Star FFA Greenhand Award.
Special guests in attendance included Billy Keels, State Director of Agricultural Education with Clemson University who addressed the group; Dr. Barry Rosenberg, Principal of Newberry High School; John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association; Frank R. Stover, Jr., Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA Advisor at Pelion High School; and some Pelion FFA officers.
The local FFA chapter was chartered earlier this year at a luncheon ceremony in Columbia, SC, attended by National FFA Vice President Jennifer Himburg of Ariton, Alabama; the State FFA Officer Team, and approximately 600 FFA members, advisors and guests from throughout the state.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
