SIMONS AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP

 COLUMBIA, SC….Darla Simons, a graduate of Strom Thurmond High School, has been named recipient of a $1500 scholarship from Clemson University, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. Funds for the scholarship were provided by the South Carolina Rural Rehabilitation Corporation.

A former president of the Thurmond Technology Center FFA Chapter, Darla is a senior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education where she has served as an officer of the Collegiate FFA Organization.

She is currently practice teaching in Anderson under the supervision of Jay Copelan, Agricultural Science and Technology Instructor at the Anderson School District Five Hanna-Westside Campus.

The daughter of Ronald and Becky Simons of North Augusta, SC, Darla will enter Graduate School at Clemson University in the fall to earn a MS degree in Agricultural Education to enhance her career as an Agricultural Science and Technology Instructor.

Her FFA advisors in high school were Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson, Agricultural Science and Technology Instructors at the Thurmond Technology Center.
