WAGENER-SALLEY FFA TEAM TO COMPETE IN NATIONAL FINALS

CLEMSON, SC…The Wagener-Salley FFA Agricultural Mechanics Team took first place honors in the state finals held in conjunction with the SC FFA Convention at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Team members Tripp Gantt, Andrew Shumpert, Cody Rish and Britteny Howard along with FFA Advisor Allen Williams were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year to compete in the National Agricultural Mechanics Finals. The state event is sponsored by the SC FFA Foundation in concert with the SC FFA Association. Andrew Shumpert was the third high scorer in the statewide competition.

The York team, coached by FFA Advisor Frank Sandifer, was named Runner-up and the Woodmont team, coached by FFA Advisor Kyle Hatcher, placed third in the state finals. McBee FFA member Justin Threatt was the high individual scorer and York’s Guy Ramsey was the third high scorer in the statewide competition.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
