STATE FFA SECRETARY HUNTER COOPER ATTENDS SC APPLE FESTIVAL

WESTMINSTER, SC…State FFA Secretary Hunter Cooper of Calhoun Falls attended the 46 th annual SC Apple Festival Kick-Off Luncheon in Westminster on Friday, September 7. The Luncheon, held in the Westminster Baptist Church Social Center, was sponsored by the Westminster Rotary Club.

Hunter had an opportunity to meet State Senator Thomas Alexander who is an FFA alumnus, State Representative William E. Sandifer, III; State Representative William R. Whitmire; former State Representative Cecil Sandifer, a founding member of the Festival committee; and a number of other governmental and educational officials. The Luncheon speaker was Dr. Ronnie L. Booth, President of Tri-County Technical College headquartered in Pendleton.

The Festival marks the beginning of the apple harvest season in Oconee County, the largest apple-producing area in the state, and provides the people of Westminster an opportunity to demonstrate the hospitality of Oconee County where all visitors are treated as special guests. The Festival continues to draw thousands to Westminster each year since the first one in 1961.

Hunter was accompanied to the event by John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization; Dr. Tom Dobbins, program coordinator for Agricultural Education at Clemson University; and Dr. Philip M. Fravel, a member of the Agricultural Education faculty at Clemson University.

State FFA Secretary Hunter Cooper was introduced to the large group of participants at the Rotary Club-sponsored Luncheon by State Representative William E. Sandifer, III.
