BAGWELL WINS NATIONAL FFA WELDING CHALLENGE

COLUMBIA, SC…Chris Bagwell, a member and officer of the Belton-Honea Path High School FFA Chapter, was named the national winner of the Hobart-sponsored Welding Challenge held at the National FFA Convention Career Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Organization.

Bagwell took top honors in the national welding competition which was participated in by approximately 20,000 FFA members from across the nation. He was awarded an Auto-Shade Welding Helmet and a pair of Hobart Welding Gloves. The Hobart Welding Company is one of the nation’s premier welding companies and a supporter of the National FFA Organization.

“This is a notable achievement to come to a South Carolina FFA member and underscores the outstanding agri-technical training offered at the Belton-Honea Path High School Agricultural Education Department under the leadership of Glenn Stevens,” Mr. Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
