CLEMSON, SC….The McBee High School FFA organization was named the Outstanding Chapter Development Program in South Carolina at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.
McBee FFA Chapter President Kenneth Howle and Pat Earle, FFA Advisor, were presented the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment by Larry Rogers, a state official with the USDA Farm Service Agency which sponsors the awards and recognition program.
Charles Springs, Chairman of the South Carolina Rural Rehabilitation Corporation, presented the chapter representatives a check for $1000 to defray their expenses to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year.
“The McBee Chapter will now compete for the National FFA Chapter Development Award which will be announced at the national convention,” Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
