BELTON-HONEA PATH FFA CHAPTER WINS TOP STATE AWARD

CLEMSON, SC….The Belton-Honea Path FFA Chapter was awarded the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment as the Outstanding Community Development Program in the state at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Carla Parker, vice president of the chapter, and Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor, were presented the award by Larry Rogers, an official with the USDA Farm Service Agency which sponsors the Recognition Program at the state and national level.

Charles Springs, chairman of the SC Rural Rehabilitation Corporation which serves as a co-sponsor of the chapter awards and recognition program in this state, presented the chapter representatives a check for $1000 to defray expenses to the National FFA Convention set for Indianapolis, Indiana later this year.

“The chapter will now compete for selection as the Outstanding Community Development Program in the nation,” Mr. Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education.
