CLEMSON, SC….The Manning High School FFA Chapter was named the Outstanding Student Development Program in South Carolina at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Manning FFA officer Maya Haynes and FFA Advisor Michael Haynes were presented the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment by Larry Rogers, an official with the USDA Farm Service Agency which sponsors the chapter awards and recognition program at the state and national level.
Charles Springs, chairman of the South Carolina Rural Rehabilitation Corporation, presented the chapter representatives a check for $1000 to defray their expenses to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year.
“The Manning Chapter will now compete for the National FFA Student Development Award which will be announced at the national convention in October,” Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
