MCLEOD NAMED SEMI-FINALIST IN NATIONAL COMPETITION

COLUMBIA, SC…Spencer C. McLeod, a senior at McBee High School and president of the SC FFA Association, was named a semi-finalist in the National FFA Extemporaneous Speaking competition held in conjunction with the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 24-27, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

“The Extemporaneous Speaking competition is among the most challenging of all the career development events sponsored by the National FFA Organization. The participants are assigned a topic and given approximately 30 minutes to prepare for the presentation before a panel of judges who ask questions following the speech,” Mr. Parris said. “Being named a semi-finalist in this competition at the national level is a notable achievement that Spencer can and should take great pride in,” he added.

Spencer is the son of Kemp and Gaie McLeod of McBee. His FFA advisor is Pat Earle, Agricultural Education Instructor at McBee High School.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
