STATE FFA OFFICERS MEET WITH PRESIDENT BUSH
AND OTHER US OFFICIALSWASHINGTON, DC….State FFA President Spencer McLeod of McBee and State Secretary Hunter Cooper of Calhoun Falls met with President George Bush at the White House on Thursday, July 26, 2007. The National FFA Officer team and state FFA presidents and secretaries from throughout the nation attended the 45 minute session, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
McLeod and Cooper also met with US Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns, an FFA alumnus; US Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, US Congressman Greshman Barrett of Westminster, SC, an FFA alumnus; US Congressman Joe Wislon of Springdale, SC; and Ashli Scott, a staff member of Congressman John Spratt of Rock Hill, SC, while in Washington.
The State FFA officers from South Carolina were in Washington, DC, to participate in a National Leadership Conference, July 24-28. They were accompanied by Keith Cox, state FFA executive secretary-treasurer, from Florence.
