YON AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP AT STATE FAIR

COLUMBIA, SC….Sally Yon, a junior at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, was awarded a $2500 scholarship by the South Carolina Farm Bureau at the conclusion of the Beef Cattle Show held during the recent State Fair in Columbia, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Sally’s selection for the scholarship was based on a written examination, her showmanship skills and overall knowledge of the beef industry. The presentation of the check was made by Ron Quesinberry, an official with the Farm Bureau Federation.

A junior at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School and a member of the FFA chapter, Sally is the daughter of Kevin and Lydia Yon of Ridge Spring. She was the recipient of a $1500 scholarship from the SC Farm Bureau in 2006 for her accomplishments in swine showmanship competition.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
