BELTON-HONEA PATH FFA AWARDS BANQUET

The Belton-Honea Path High School FFA Chapter held a successful awards and recognition banquet at the high school recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

State FFA Secretary Hunter Cooper of Calhoun Falls who was the keynote speaker challenged the students to take full advantage of the numerous opportunities available to them through the FFA as they prepare for a career in the science, business or technology of agriculture.

Three Outstanding FFA Members recognized at the banquet were Chris Bagwell, DeKalb Agricultural Award; Carla Parker, Outstanding Senior Award; and Caleb Keaton, the H. J. Mackey Award.

Other actions at the banquet program included the election of new chapter officers for school-year 2008-09. Jane Snead will succeed Caleb Keaton as president of the nationally recognized chapter.

“Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education Instructor at the high school, serves as FFA advisor to the second largest chapter in South Carolina and one of the largest in the nation,” Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
