Beau Williamson presents Mrs. Betty A. Stover the Honorary American FFA Degree.

STOVER RECEIVES TOP NATIONAL FFA AWARD

COLUMBIA, SC…Mrs. Betty A. Stover of Pelion was presented the prestigious Honorary American FFA Degree during a special ceremony at the State Capitol recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

The award was presented by Beau Williamson, the 2007 president of the 500,000 member National FFA Organization from Clovis, California. In his remarks, Williamson said the National FFA recognizes exceptional individuals who have supported and promoted the FFA at the local, state and national levels. The Honorary American FFA Degree is the highest award bestowed upon a select group of friends from throughout the nation.

“Mrs. Stover has been actively involved in the FFA for 54 years as the wife of Frank R. Stover, Sr., a long-time agricultural educator and retired state director of Agricultural Education in South Carolina,” Williamson said. “As administrative assistant to the SC FFA Foundation for 24 years, Mrs. Stover continues to provide superb leadership and support in its successful operation,” he added.

Mrs. Stover is the third member of her family to receive this top national FFA award. Her husband and their son, Frank R. Stover, Jr., who is the Agricultural Education Instructor at Pelion High School, have previously received the national recognition.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
