LEXINGTON FFA TEAM HEADED TO NATIONAL FINALS
COLUMBIA, SC…The Lexington Technology Center FFA Floriculture Team took first place honors in the state finals held at the Spartanburg Community College recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team members Kaylon Meetze, the high scorer in the competition; Suzette Sharpe, second high scorer; Dillin Price, third high scorer; and Amanda Kyzer, fourth high scorer, along with Advisor Tommy Harmon were awarded expense-paid trips to the 2008 National FFA Convention to compete in the National Floriculture Finals.

Their coach was Meghan McPhail, Agricultural Education Instructor at Aiken High School.
Florence Career Center Team members Shannon Williams and Beonka Law placed third in the event. They were coached by Joan Alexander, Agricultural Education Instructor at the Center.
Spartanburg Community College Horticulture faculty Jason Bagwell, Department Head; Kevin Parris, Instructor and Arboretum Coordinator; and Doug McAbee, Instructor; planned and conducted the Floriculture Career Development Event. Clemson University Agricultural Education administrative staff Billy Keels and Steve Sanderson also assisted along with State FFA Vice President William Nelson of Clinton, SC.
