LEXINGTON FFA CHAPTER AWARDS AND RECOGNITION BANQUET

 COLUMBIA, SC…The Lexington Technology Center FFA Chapter held its annual Awards and Recognition Banquet on Thursday, April 10, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

“A large group of FFA members, school administrators, sponsors and parents heard keynote speakers Spencer C. McLeod, state FFA president of McBee, SC, and Desiree Kinneer, state FFA vice president of Indian Land, SC, present inspiring and challenging addresses,” Mr. Parris said. “The local FFA officers did a superb job carrying out their responsibilities to make the event informative and successful,” he added.

Will Amick, president of the Lexington FFA Chapter, was awarded the Brian Jones Memorial Scholarship by Wayne and Debbie Jones. He was also named recipient of the Lexington County Farm-City scholarship presented by Loni Rikard.

FFA member Hannah Kyzer was presented a scholarship by Tommy Harmon, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor at the Lexington Technology Center, on behalf of the Lexington FFA Chapter.

FFA members Amanda Kyzer and Dillin Price were named recipients of the Star Chapter Greenhand award.

Will Amick was named the Star in Agribusiness. He and Mark West were named Proficiency Award winners. Mark won the Agriculture Service award and Will received the Landscape Management award.

State Representative Marion B. Frye of Leesville, SC, was a special guest at the awards and recognition ceremony.

New FFA officers elected at the Banquet were Suzette Sharpe, Kristin Attaway, Amanda Kyzer, Danield Rummel, Dillin Price and Cody Roberts.

In addition to being members of the SC FFA Association, the Lexington students are members of the National FFA Organization which has more than 500,000 members in 7500 chapters representing every state, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
