CLEMSON, SC…The Ridge Spring-Monetta FFA Livestock Evaluation Team took top honors in the state finals held recently at the T.E. Garrison Livestock Arena on the Clemson University Campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team members Sally Yon, Drake Yon, Anthony Rauton and Caleb Miller along with Michael Crim, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor at Ridge Spring-Monetta High School, were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, to compete in the National Livestock Evaluation Finals. Sally Yon was the high individual scorer and Drake Yon was the second high scorer in the state competition.

The Clover High School Team was named Runner-Up in the state competition. Team members Lizzy Chapple who was the third high individual scorer, John Petty, Lauren McGill and Leslie McGill were coached by Carrie C. Bolin, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor at Clover High School.
York FFA team members Guy Ramsey, Chad Whitesides, Matt Hill and Kelly Howell came in third in the state finals. They were coached by Frank Sandifer, Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center.
The awards were presented by State FFA Officers William Nelson and Heather Coleman on behalf of the State FFA organization.
“Livestock Evaluation is among the most competitive of the career development events sponsored by the SC FFA Association,” Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
