WILLIAMSTON, SC….The Adult Division of the Agricultural Education Department at the Anderson I & II Career and Technology Center has been named the Outstanding Post Secondary Program in the southern states and one of the top six in the nation by the National Association of Agricultural Educators, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education in South Carolina.
The primary arm of the successful adult program is the Williamston Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association administered by Steve McGaha and Audie Green, agricultural education instructors at the center.
“As a result of achieving this prestigious honor, the agricultural education department has been awarded the use of a Toyota Tundra Double Cab 5.7L V8 4x4 truck by Toyota USA Motor Sales on a two year lease arrangement,” Parris said. “The vehicle will be used to promote the continuation of a superior agricultural education program through the Young Farmer and Agribusiness group and the FFA chapter,” he added.
The truck presentation was made by Asa Moran, an official with Ralph Hayes Toyota of Anderson, at a recent ceremony held at the center. The event was attended by young farmer and agribusiness leaders, FFA members, state agricultural educational officials, state FFA association staff, and school administrators.
“Instructors Steve McGaha and Audie Green are providing a vital service to the agricultural industry in our community through a variety of superb educational opportunities,” said Hollie Harrell, assistant director of the center.
Other program participants included Crystal Keaton, vice president of the local FFA chapter, Chris Corzine, Associate State Director of Agricultural Education with Clemson University and Steve McGaha.
