HOLMES AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP

COLUMBIA, SC…Jonathan Holmes, a member of the Strom Thurmond Technology Center FFA Chapter, was awarded a $2000 college scholarship by the SC Farm Bureau at the conclusion of the Junior Dairy Cattle Show held in conjunction with the recent South Carolina State Fair.

“Jonathan’s selection for the scholarship was determined by a written examination on the dairy industry, his dairy animal showmanship skills and an interview with dairy professionals,” according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

The scholarship check was presented to Jonathan by Dr. Tom Dobbins, program coordinator of Agricultural Education at Clemson University and superintendent of the State Fair Livestock Department, on behalf of the SC Farm Bureau.

A sophomore at Clemson University where he is majoring in Horticulture, Jonathan is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Holmes of Johnston, SC. His FFA advisors are Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson, Agricultural Education Instructors at the Technology Center.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
