Holbrook was welcomed to the event by Dr. Wendell Estep, pastor of the church.

The event, under the direction of Steve Phillips, Minister of Music at the church, is a superb patriotic musical production by the church choir, the church orchestra, Fort Jackson’s 282 Army Band and other participants including representatives of all branches of the military. It is designed to honor those who are serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces to protect our freedom. “The event is also programmed to honor our Godly heritage and the freedoms we enjoy,” Parris said.

A number of heroes of World War Two from the Columbia area were recognized along with family members who have lost loved ones on a battle field in years past.

Some of the patriotic songs used in the pageant were The National Anthem, Stars and Stripes Forever, America the Beautiful, God Bless America, My Country Tis’ of Thee, I’m Just a Flag Waving American and many others.

The pageant will be televised statewide on the South Carolina Educational Television Network at 9:30 PM on July 4 and on South Carolina Channel 802 at 8:00 PM. It will also be televised on WGGS-TV Channel 16 in Greenville at 8:00 PM on July 4 and at 8:00 AM on July 7

United States Senator Lindsey Graham and military leaders from the area brought greetings to the overflow crowd. WIS-TV personality Joe Pinner served as emcee for the event and has done so since its inception in 1987.
