NATIONAL FFA CONVENTION TO BE TELEVISED LIVE
COLUMBIA, SC….The National FFA Convention set for Indianapolis, Indiana, October 22-25, 2008, will be televised live nationally on the RFD-TV Satellite Network beginning Wednesday evening and continuing through the closing session on Saturday afternoon. The telecast will be hosted by internationally known and respected agricultural broadcasters Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong.
“The telecasts will capture the energy and excitement of America’s largest youth convention,” said John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association. “More than 55,000 FFA members representing every state, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands will gather for inspiring general sessions, national finals in 40 career development events, agricultural education leadership seminars and to visit the 1300-plus exhibit Agricultural Career Show,” he added.
The schedule for the convention coverage is: Wednesday, October 22, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM; Thursday, October 23, 1:30 PM-4:30 PM, and 5:30 PM-10:00 PM; Friday, October 24, 7:30 AM-10:30 AM, 11:30 AM-1:30 PM, 2:30 PM-4:30 PM, 5:30 PM-9:00 PM; Saturday, October 25, 7:30 AM-11:30 AM; and 1:00 PM-5:00 PM.
RFD-TV is a 24-hour television network dedicated to serving the needs and interests of America’s agriculturalists. Currently, the network is available to more than 35 million homes on Dish Network channel 23; Direct TV channel 379; as well as Mediacom, Comcast, Charter, NRTC, Verizon Fios and other cable systems.
State FFA President Flint Holbrook of Clover; Secretary Adam Gore of Loris; Vice Presidents Caroline Sherard of Abbeville; Will Amick of Lexington; Matthew Adams of Hamer and Krista McCuen of Gloverville, will serve as official voting delegates and lead a delegation of 600 FFA members from South Carolina.
The National FFA Organization has a 30-year record high membership of 507,000 from 7500 chapters throughout the nation.
