SC FFA OFFICERS MEET WITH PRESIDENT BUSH
WASHINGTON, DC… South Carolina FFA Association President Flint Holbrook of Clover and State Secretary Adam Gore of Loris met with President George Bush at the White House on Thursday afternoon, July 24. They were joined by the National FFA Officer team and other state officers for a 45 minute session with the President, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
While in Washington attending a National FFA Conference, Holbrook and Gore also met with US Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer, US Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings, US Congressman and FFA alumnus J. Gresham Barrett of Westminster; US Congressman John M. Spratt of Rock Hill and US Congressman Henry E. Brown of Hanahan.
“The FFA is an organization of more than 500,000 members who are students of agricultural education in secondary schools, community colleges or universities,” Parris said. “Originally known as the Future Farmers of America, the name was changed in recent years to the National FFA Organization to include students who are preparing for one of the more than 300 careers in the science, business or technology of agriculture,” he added.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
