COLUMBIA, SC…Nathan Price of Gilbert was named the State FFA Star in Agribusiness by the South Carolina FFA Association during a recent ceremony at Clemson University. He was awarded an expense-paid trip to the 2008 National FFA Convention by Southern States, Inc., and the SC FFA Foundation, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization..
“This is the highest award presented by the state FFA organization to a member who is actively engaged in an agribusiness enterprise,” Parris said. “Only one South Carolina student may receive this prestigious award in any given year,” he added.
Nathan is the owner and operator of New Horizons Lawn Care. He owns one hundred percent of the equipment used in his business. His equipment, originally acquired through a small business loan, was paid for during the first year of operation. He has a number of commercial contracts but his business also concentrates on residential lawns in the Gilbert area.
In addition to his lawn care business, Nathan is a co-owner of Foxtrail Farms which specializes in the production of Bobwhite quail. The farm produces more than 10,000 bobwhite quail per year which are sold to hunting preserves throughout the state.
An active member of the Gilbert FFA Chapter, Nathan is the son of Tim and Janet Price. His FFA advisor is Derrick Cooper, Agricultural Education Instructor at Gilbert High School.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leade
