STATE FFA OFFICERS ELECTED AT CLEMSON UNIVERSITY

CLEMSON, SC…K. Flint Holbrook, a rising senior at Clover High School where he has been serving as an officer in the FFA chapter, was elected president of the South Carolina FFA Association for 2008-09 during the State FFA Convention held at Clemson University, June 11-13, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Flint is the son of Flint and Beverly Holbrook of Clover, SC. His FFA advisor is Carrie C. Bolin, Agricultural Science Instructor at Clover High School.

Adam Gore, a rising senior at Loris High School where he has been serving as an officer in the FFA chapter, was elected state secretary. He is the son of Deborah Gore and Donnie Gore of Loris, SC. His FFA advisor is Nate Bellamy, Agricultural Education Instructor at Loris High School.

Caroline Sherard, a recent graduate of Abbeville High School where she served as an officer in the FFA chapter, was elected state vice president. She is the daughter of Calvert and Suzie Sherard of Abbeville, SC. Her FFA advisor is Fred Raines, Agricultural Education Instructor at Abbeville High School.

Will Amick, a recent graduate of Lexington High School where he served as president of the Lexington Technology Center FFA Chapter, was elected state vice president. He is the son of Blake and Dell Amick of Lexington. His FFA advisor is Tommy Harmon, Agricultural Education Instructor at the Lexington Technology Center.

Matthew Adams, a recent graduate of Latta High School where he served as an officer in the FFA chapter, was elected state vie president. He is the son of Ernie and Mary Adams of Hamer, SC. His FFA advisor is Aaron Miles, Agricultural Education Instructor at Latta High School.

Krista McCuen, rising senior at Midland Valley High School where she served as an officer of the FFA chapter, was elected state vice president. She is the daughter of William McCuen and Gina McCuen of Graniteville, SC. Her FFA advisor is Jeremy Brooks, Agricultural Education Instructor at Midland Valley High School.

The FFA, originally known as the Future Farmers of America, is a national organization of more than 500,000 members in more than 7000 chapters located in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. They are enrolled in agricultural education courses in secondary schools, community colleges and universities.

Many of these students are preparing for one of the more than 300 career opportunities in the science, business or technology of agriculture. American agriculture is the largest industry in the nation employing twenty percent of the total work force.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
