WILLIAMS IS PRESIDENT OF SC AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS

COLUMBIA, SC…Allen Williams of Wagener, a member of the faculty at Wagener-Salley High School, has been elected president of the South Carolina Agricultural Educators Association for 2008-09, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for the organization.

A graduate of Seneca High School, Mr. Williams attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, and transferred to Clemson University where he received a BS degree in Agricultural Education and a Master’s of Agriculture in Animal Science. He has also completed 30-plus credit hours in Agricultural Education at Clemson.

Mr. Williams recently completed 25 years of teaching Agricultural Education at Wagener-Salley High School. Many of his students have been named state champions in FFA Career Development Events including Soil Science, Livestock Evaluation, Parliamentary Procedure, Equine Science, Agricultural Mechanics, Poultry Evaluation, FFA Creed Speaking, Tractor Operation and Safety and Tool Identification. The Wagener-Salley FFA Chapter has been the recipient of the State Gold Emblem Award a number of times. Mr. Williams has coached three state FFA officers including one state president. He also provides superb leadership as advisor to the Wagener-Salley Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter.

As a result of his distinguished service and superior accomplishments as a successful teacher, Mr. Williams was named the Outstanding Agricultural Educator in South Carolina for 2008 at a special ceremony held at Clemson University this summer. Mr. Williams and his wife, Kathy, have three daughters, Kayla, Kellie and Kristin.

Templeton, Batesburg-Leesville; Jillian Lash, Sumter; and Mindy Sandifer, Barnwell; Associate Vice Presidents Tim Keown, Iva; Annette Vaughan, Union; Bert Beasley, Lamar; and Michael Crim, Monetta; and past president Harry DuBose of Myrtle Beach.
