NATIONAL AG DAY ESSAY CONTEST
The Agriculture Council of America is inviting students in the seventh through 12 th grade to submit an original essay of 450 words on the importance of agriculture. The theme of this year’s essay is “Agriculture---Every Day in Every Way” and is due on February 9, 2009.
The successful essay should discuss the importance of agriculture in everyone’s life. From the clothes we wear to the food we eat, agriculture is a part of every day for everyone. Agriculture has many touch points in our daily lives and offers numerous career opportunities to the youth of today.
The national winner of this contest will receive a $1000 prize and a free trip to Washington, DC, to be recognized during the March 12 Celebration of Ag Dinner at the Whitten Patio attended by agriculture industry representatives, members of Congress, federal agency officials, media and other friends of agriculture. State winners will also be selected and awarded a $100 prize.
Sponsors include CHS Inc., the Council for Agricultural Science and Technology, High Plains/Midwest Ag Journal, National Association of Farm Broadcasters, National Agri-Association, Country Living Association and McCormick Company.
