Emmanuel BankstonBEAUFORT - JASPER FFA PRESIDENT AWARDED NATIONAL GRANT
COLUMBIA, SC…Emmanuel Bankston of Beaufort, president of the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence FFA Chapter and a senior at Battery Creek High School, has been named recipient of a Career Pathway Grant from the National FFA Organization, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA association. A grant in the amount of $500 was approved for Emmanuel to expand his Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program which is a pine straw baling business. He will use the funds to apply toward the purchase of a trailer to haul more pine straw to his customers.
“Grant recipients were selected based on an essay describing how the funds would be used, FFA leadership, community activities and a record of the number of hours he had spent on his SAE program,” Parris said.
Emmanuel, the son of Carolyn Huff of Beaufort, will attend Clemson University in the fall. His FFA advisor is Robin Beasley, Agricultural Education Instructor at the Academy.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
