BANKSTON IS SC FARM BUREAU YOUTH AMBASSADOR

COLUMBIA, SC….Emmanuel Bankston of Beaufort, president of the Beaufort-Jasper Academy for Career Excellence FFA Chapter, was recently selected as one of two South Carolina Farm Bureau Youth Ambassadors for 2009, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA association.

The Youth Ambassador Program, sponsored by the SC Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, is designed to select young leaders who will spread the word about the importance of agriculture and inform students and adults of the more than 300 career opportunities in the science, business or technology of this essential industry.

Emmanuel, the son of Carolyn Huff of Beaufort, was awarded $500 in cash, a $2000 college scholarship and an Apple iPod upon being named youth ambassador.

A senior at Battery Creek High School, he will be attending Clemson University in the fall.

Robin Beasley, Agricultural Education Instructor at the Academy, is Emmanuel’s FFA Advisor.
