COLUMBIA, SC…The Lexington Technology Center FFA Floriculture team took first place honors in the state finals held recently at Spartanburg Community College, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team member Hannah Kyzer was high scorer in the state event followed by Jacob Brown in second place, Andi Massinello, third, and Casey Blanton, fourth. The team members and their advisor, Tommy Harmon, Agricultural Education instructor and FFA advisor at the Center, were awarded expense-paid trips to attend the National FFA Convention by the SC FFA Foundation where they will compete in the National Floriculture Finals.

They were coached by Gayle Posipanko, Horticulture instructor and FFA advisor at the Center.
Strom Thurmond Technology Center team members Zach Rearden, Brittany Wright, Katelyn Henderson and Kayla Gooley placed third in the state competition. They were coached by Hugh Bland, an Agricultural Education Instructor and FFA advisor at the Center.
The event was coordinated by Spartanburg Community College Horticulture faculty Jason Bagwell, department head; and Kevin Parris, instructor and coordinator of the campus Arboretum. Steve Sanderson, associate state director of agricultural education with Clemson University, assisted along with Clemson University agricultural education majors Brandi Laws, Hannah King and Laura Jan Burdette. State FFA Vice President Will Amick also assisted.
