CLEMSON UNIVERSITY TO HOST STATE FFA CONVENTION

COLUMBIA, SC….Hundreds of Agricultural Education students from throughout South Carolina will convene at Clemson University, June 10-12, for their annual State FFA Convention, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

National FFA Vice President Riley Branch of Aspermont, Texas, a student at Texas Tech University majoring in Agricultural Leadership and Agricultural Economics, will be the keynote speaker and conduct a leadership workshop.

Other highlights of the convention include the recognition of Outstanding FFA Chapters in SC; presenting the State FFA Stars in Farming, Agribusiness and Agricultural Placement; conducting state finals in career development events; awarding college scholarships; and introducing recipients of the coveted State FFA Degree and Honorary State Degree.

“State FFA President Flint Holbrook of Clover, State Secretary Adam Gore of Loris, State Vice Presidents Caroline Sherard of Abbeville, Will Amick of Lexington, Matthew Adams of Hamer and Krista McCuen of Gloverville will preside over the three day event,” Parris said.

H. Keith Cox of Latta, a staff member with the Clemson University Agricultural Education Program, serves as executive secretary-treasurer of the SC FFA Association.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
