BLAND HEADS UP AGRICULTURE PROGRAM AT PIEDMONT TECHNICAL COLLEGE SALUDA CAMPUS

Hugh Bland of Edgefield has been named director of the Diversified Agriculture Program at Piedmont Technical College’s Satellite Campus in Saluda, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education in South Carolina.

“This program is designed to educate young people through a two-year diverse agricultural curriculum,” Bland said. “Many of our students will transfer to Clemson University, the University of Georgia or Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College after successfully completing their educational experience here,” he added.

Students from throughout South Carolina are expected to enroll in this “first of a kind” agricultural education program according to Piedmont Technical College officials.

Mr. Bland, recently retired Agricultural Education instructor at the Strom Thurmond Technology Center in Edgefield County and a graduate of Clemson University, is recognized as one of South Carolina’s most outstanding agricultural educators and FFA advisors. He brings a wealth of scientific knowledge and practical experience to this new and exciting Agricultural Education Program.
