JOHN BURDETTE TAKES FIRST DEER

Eight year old John Burdette, a future FFA member of Greenville, SC, claimed his first deer, a five point buck, in lower Anderson County in early November, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

A son of Barry and Beth Burdette, John harvested the deer using his dad’s first deer rifle, a Marlin 30-30, which he has now claimed for his own. In spite of the joy and excitement of his success as a deer hunter, John says he will not pursue another deer until his brother, Alex, bags one or the family runs out of meat.

John’s dad, Barry, is an Agricultural Education instructor and FFA advisor at Woodmont High School near Piedmont, SC.
