DACUSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL FFA DOG SHOW A GREAT SUCCESS

A number of Dacusville Middle School FFA members participated in their annual Dog Show at the school on October 29, 2009, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Winners in the competition were: Kia Parker and Hershey-1 st place in Sporting and Non-Sporting; Jacy Lewis and Cowboy-1st place in Purebred Herding and Working; Brittany Malone and Luke-1 st place in Mixed Breed Group and Best in Show; Kendra Nix and Payton-1 st place Purebred Terrier and Toy Group; and Evan Gaston and Daisy-1 st place Purebred Hound Group.

Best Halloween Costume finalists in the show were Hope McCall and Rascal-1 st place; Kia Parker and Hershey-2 nd place; Nicole Tripp and Payton-3 rd place; Kimberly Clardy and Gizmo-4 th place; and Aubrey Emery and Gus-5 th place.

Emily Hendrix and Jackson took the Cutest Dog title and Megan Garner and Howie claimed the Most Talented Dog honors in the show.

Amy New, Agricultural Education instructor and FFA advisor at the school, said the show was a great success from the standpoint of interest and support. “The show provides students an excellent opportunity to enter their dogs in competition as a part of their hands-on experience in the Small Animal Care course,” Ms. New said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
