ROBINSON AWARDED SCHOLARSHIP

COLUMBIA, SC….Wesley Robinson, a member of the Laurens High School FFA Chapter, was awarded a $2000 college scholarship by the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation at the conclusion of the Junior Dairy Cattle Show held in conjunction with the 2009 SC State Fair.

“Wesley’s selection for the scholarship was determined by a written examination on the dairy industry, his dairy animal showmanship skills and an interview with dairy professionals,” according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Dairy farmer Rick Doran, a member of the SC Farm Bureau Board of Directors from Newberry, SC, presented the check to Wesley on behalf of Farm Bureau officials and members throughout South Carolina.

A junior at Clemson University, Wesley is majoring in Animal and Veterinary Science with a minor in Agricultural Education.

His FFA advisor is Melanie Birchmore, Agricultural Education instructor at Laurens District 55 High School.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
