EVERY VOTE COUNTS

MCPHAIL FAMILY FARM BARN IN NATIONAL FINALS

A nineteenth century barn located on the Neil and Gwen McPhail Farm near Seneca, SC, in Oconee County, has been selected as one of ten finalist for complete restoration and preservation by the National FFA Organization, the National FFA Alumni and Campbell Soup Company, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

This program is designed to highlight the contributions made by the American farmer by preserving barns and bringing to life special stories of how good food is grown. Campbell Soup and the National FFA Organizations have identified ten (10) farms with a unique story and a barn in need of preservation.

Five of the ten finalists will be chosen for complete restoration by Campbell Soup Company in concert with the FFA. The selection of the top five barns will be determined by the total number of votes cast by FFA members, advisors, other students, parents and all other friends of the FFA.

Visit www.HelpGrowYourSoup.com and cast a vote daily for the McPhail Family Barn through January 5, 2010. Once you reach this link click on Community Projects and vote. Campbell Soup will contribute $1 to the National FFA for every vote cast up to $250,000. They have committed a total of $500,000 to make the Barn Preservation Project a reality.

The McPhail Family Barn is unique to the South Carolina Agricultural Education family because Neil’s wife, Gwen, is an Agricultural Education instructor at West Oak High School near Westminster, SC, and their daughter, Meghan M. Wood, is the Agricultural Education instructor at Aiken High School, Aiken, SC.

“Spread the word about this historic agricultural project and encourage your family, friends and acquaintances to vote daily for the McPhail Family Barn,” Parris emphasizes.
