ADKINSON IS REGIONAL FFA STAR

CLEMSON, SC….Samuel Adkinson of Johnston, a member of the Strom Thurmond Technology Center FFA Chapter, was named the Mid-state Regional Star Farmer for 2009 by the SC FFA Association at a recent ceremony on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Samuel is employed by his family-owned and operated broiler production farm where his duties include preparing the houses for young batches of broilers, walking the buildings every day to check on the birds, operate the climate control system, mixing medications and supplements and general maintenance of the broiler houses.

Additionally, Samuel has diversified his supervised agricultural education experience program to include 100 acres of Loblolly pines and 120 acres of hardwoods

Samuel, an active member of the local FFA chapter, will be attending Clemson University to major in Agricultural Mechanization. His FFA advisors were Hugh Bland, recently retired agricultural educator at the Center, and Dan Henderson, agricultural education instructor at the Center.
