SNEAD AWARDED CONSERVATION SCHOLARSHIP

Jane Anne Snead, a 2009 graduate of Belton-Honea Path High School where she served as FFA chapter president, was recently awarded the Donald B. McPhail Memorial Scholarship in Natural Resource Conservation by the Anderson County Soil and Water Conservation District. Chairman Tom Garrison presented the scholarship on behalf of the district board of commissioners.

“The Anderson Soil and Water Conservation District has a long and distinguished record of financially supporting outstanding local youth who are studying agriculture or natural resource conservation,” said SC FFA spokesman John W. Parris.

Miss Snead, a freshman at Clemson University majoring in Agriculture, has won other scholarships, including one from the SC FFA Association and the SC Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association. She also received the Outstanding State Individual FFA Member Award at the state FFA convention at Clemson in June.

She is a daughter of John and Laura Snead. Her FFA advisor is Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education instructor and FFA advisor at Belton-Honea Path High School.
